Lensley holds two aces at Flamingo Park
Northern Cape trainer Corrie Lensley has a bright chance to repay punters at Flamingo Park today when he sends out Dame Judith with leading Kimberley jockey Muzi Yeni aboard in Race 1, a Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1000m.
MUZI YENI has a number of good rides at Flamingo Park today.
This daughter of Ato attracted some betting support on debut with Yeni up, but was never a threat and finished fifth out of 14 over 1000m. However, when equipped with blinkers in her two subsequent runs she made significant improvement over the same distance. Partnered by Gunter Wrogemann she was a three-length third, then reunited with Yeni and favourite she was an unlucky 2.25-length second as she was bumped in the running.
With a trouble-free run she is unlikely to miss this time. Best of the others are Alpha To Omega, Villa Royale, Carabinieri and Katjievandiebaan.
Another who looks ready to exit the maiden ranks is Jarett Rugg-trained Lord Defender in Race 5 over 1800m. This three-year-old comes off two much improved runs when second over 1600m. The booking of in-form jockey Jarryd Penny this time could see the gelding reward punters in Jackpot and Pick 6 bets.
Making most appeal of his rivals are Wine Dark Sea, Big Blue Night, Tokimonsta and Peter The Wailer.
Another bright prospect in the Jackpot and Pick 6 is Lensley-trained three-time winner Pretty Wendy (Yeni) who contests Race 8, a MR 74 Handicap (F&M) over 1600m. This four-year-old daughter of Dynasty has not finished out of the money with Yeni up in her last five starts, two of which were smart wins. Her main danger is five-time winning mare Fly Rebecca Fly.
