King for a day

A difficult card is in store for punters at Kenilworth on Saturday but punters can do worse than throwing in Prince Of Wales as a banker bet for the exotics.

The three-year-old Dynasty gelding runs in Race 6, a MR 79 Handicap over 1400m.

Prince Of Wales has shown nice ability in his form to date and was heavily backed to win his latest but could only manage fourth behind Mr Wise Guy.

That disappointment can safely be put behind him as it was still not a disgraceful effort in a decent field.

Jockey Keegan de Melo has shown himself to have potential so it is not of much surprise that the Justin Snaith yard is giving him an opportunity today with their runner.

Prince Of Wales is well drawn and could get the run of the race.

His biggest threat is likely to be Search Party from the Brett Crawford yard.

With stable jockey Corne Orffer doing duty on Captain America at Turffontein the yard’s rides at Kenilworth were up for grabs and Aldo Domeyer rides Search Party.

Another race one might want to go short in the exotics is Race 5, a MR 80 Handicap over 1000m.

Captain Bagg and Percival have both shown themselves to be above average and could fight it out.

Captain Bagg has a mind of his own and if allowed a lead can be hard to catch and is drawn in the middle of the track which could give jockey Grant Behr the opportunity to work out which side of the track is running best.

Percival has won twice in just four starts and both of those wins were over this course and distance.
