If All The Bids stays, he wins

There is a question mark over the ability of All The Bids to get the trip in the Northern Cape Stayers Handicap over 2200m at Flamingo Park today.

The stamina doubt comes because he is out of a Mistral Dancer mare, but the Corne Spies-trained gelding is well weighted and could make all the running to win the feature. He is 4kg in at these weights and while he jumps from a deep draw he is the class act in the line-up.

New Circle has won his last three over this track and trip and could be dangerous.

Deckie Boy likes this track and is the only other serious threat to All The Bids.

Earlier in the card, there appear to be some options for a decent strike.

Latino’s Jet has battled to finish off his races but the step up in trip against a modest line-up could see him finally win a race (Race 3).

Beat The Odds has taken a liking to this course, having won twice in his five starts, and looks a nice prospect in Race 4.

Spies has a strong hand in Race 8, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1000m.

Anger is unbeaten in three starts at this track and is well weighted, but stable companion Velvet Verona could come out tops. Jockey Fanie Chambers is a regular rider of both horses, so it might be a valuable pointer that he has opted for Velvet Verona.

This National Assembly four-year-old was a good third to subsequent feature winner Dollar Dazzler on the turf at Turffontein in January. As his very best form is on the sand, that run was a good effort. Also, he won on his only try at this track.

Black Pepper has good form over this track and trip but may not have the class to beat the Spies-trained duo.

Atso Fields, Caribbean Bay and The Queen are all in good form and hold place chances.
