Hurricane ready to show punters a silver lining

After giving highly regarded Snapscan plenty to think about in a sprint last time, Hurricane Silva appeals as the best bet at Kenilworth tomorrow.

It’s back to ordinary fare following the glamorous L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate weekend, and this grey Oratorio filly trained by Justin Snaith, looks set to exit the maiden ranks in Race 4 over 1400m.

She failed to feature in three runs around the bend at Durbanville, but has improved markedly in her two outings at Kenilworth.

And, judging by the way she finished last time, is now looking for the extra distance.

Snaith stable jockey Richard Fourie is suspended, but multiple champion Anton Marcus makes a more than able replacement. This is an ultra-confident selection, and can be bankered in all exotics.

Another to make strong appeal is Northern Spy in Race 5. Brett Crawford’s Pomodoro gelding made late progress last time, and should relish the 1600m. He looks like another trump card in what could be a very good day for Marcus.

Candice Bass-Robinson’s Grade 2-placed filly Santa Clara drops to handicap company in Race 2, and should prove too smart.

Stable companion Intothelimelight looks the main threat.

Vaughan Marshall’s Flash Fire looks a decent value bet in Race 6.

This Philanthropist mare has placed behind decent sorts at her last three runs and with less than 50kg once useful apprentice Sandile Mbhele’s claim is deducted, she should be right there in this FM 73 Handicap over 1800m.
