Admittedly that was in 2014 and when he was still a two-year-old but Guiness may take a power of beating.
When winning The Gold Medallion in May 2014 Guiness beat the high class filly Carry On Alice by a neck. More was expected of the Seventh Rock gelding when he next appeared at Greyville in July that year but after having shown good early pace he faded out to be 6.25 lengths adrift of Afrikaburn.
Clearly something went amiss with the talented now four-year-old as he made only one other appearance since then and that was in December
where he could only manage a disappointing fifth place behind Zinnavar. That winner has not done much since.
Now returning after a lengthy break Guiness is well weighted in this Graduation Plate and it is worth noting that Anton Marcus will be
aboard. The obvious danger is the well-backed debut winner Executive Power.
This Mike Miller trained three-year-old was impressive in his 3.50-length debut rout of New Hampshire. It is nice that trainer Paul Lafferty is back on our Tellytrack screens and two of his runners look to hold big chances in their respective races.
Seventh Moment looked a winner in waiting when running on strongly on her debut and jockey Anthony Delpech should steer her home in Race 3. Unbelievable Chad has been unlucky not to win either of his two starts to date and the extra trip should suit him in Race 5.
Another interesting race on the card is Race 2, a FM 89 Handicap for fillies and mares where Clear Sailing and Miss Varlicious could fight out the finish.
Miss Varlicious has been promising to date over this course and distance with two wins in her five starts.
Clear Sailing disappointed last time out but will do better over this minimum trip.
