Singapore – As often is the case with stand-alone Friday meetings most races on today’s Kranji programme have depth and winners can be hard to find.
So it might be case of looking for some nice Eachway types, keeping one eye on the tote for value and following the horses who will give punters a fighting chance.
Golden Tomahawk in Race 8 is one such horse.
He does find winning tough with his “swooping” style of racing, but looks to have found a suitable Poly sprint which will be run at a good early pace and enable him to show his best work late.
Earlier on the card in Race 3 an improver at tempting odds also makes some appeal.
Star King is a five-year-old who has yet to figure in six starts in Singapore but showed glimpses late in his first run on the Kranji turf to indicate he might be ready to show, especially if he can make use of gate No 1 over 1400m .
Main race is the Kranji Stakes, over 1200m on the turf.
It is Race 7 and an open a air with three runners returning and following the value might be a good option.
The horse who meets the criteria is Raise No Doubt, who is improving and will have blinkers added to his equipment.
But watch the be ing on horses like Rafaello.
He showed up well last time out in his first run after placing at Group level.
It could also be worth following Caorunn, the only last start winner in the race.
Perhaps an All To Come with Star King (place), Raise No Doubt (place) and Golden Tomahawk (place) is the way to play.
