Follow Laing at Fairview
Trainer Tara Laing has done exceptionally well with everybody else’s “hand-me-downs”.
RAYMOND DANIELSON has some good rides at Fairview today.
Laing trains for owners Ingrid and Markus Jooste but she gets her stock from horses who have either not performed or have stopped performing in other provinces.
The level of racing in Port Elizabeth is of a lower level but you still need to get horses to win and that is exactly what Laing has managed to do.
She also has a particularly good partnership with jockey Raymond Danielson who rides most of their winners and the pair could be worth following at Fairview today. This is a particularly testing card, especially the low-level handicap races.
First Officer Al looks an interesting proposition in Race 3, a Maiden Plate over 1200m on turf. This son of Captain Al was trained by Johan Janse van Vuuren in Johannesburg and the longest price available in his six starts was 5-1. In most of his races he started shorter than 2-1 but proved costly to his supporters. He has since been gelded and will be having his first run for Laing.
Laing and Danielson could also strike in Race 5, a MR 70 Handicap over 2000m where they team up with Emblem Honour. He ran a 0.75-length second behind Oh So Modus, who would start odds-on in this field, over 2400m and has placed four times in six starts over this distance.
There could be a first and second for the stable in Race 6, a MR 63 Handicap over 1600m, where Danielson rides Temple Rock and leading apprentice Callan Murray is aboard The Stones.
