De Kock to rule in the lucky last

It will not be an easy task to beat the Mike de Kock-trained duo of Master’s Spirit and Extreme Dubai in Race 8, a MR 82 Handicap over 1000m, at Scottsville today.

Regular stable rider Weichong Marwing is carded to ride Master’s Spirit and this Jet Master gelding bounced back to winning last week on the Greyville Polytrack over 1200m where he beat Kiss Me Hardy.

The drop in distance will not be a problem and neither will be his returning to a turf track.

Stable companion Extreme Dubai with Anthony Delpech is probably the more reliable of the De Kock runners, having won twice and having placed a couple more times in his 13 starts.

This Australian-bred import was a decent third place behind Ronnie Rocket this month.

Visiting Western Cape trainers have been plundering a lot of races in their annual raid to KwaZulu-Natal and Justin Snaith could provide another winner with Time To Think in Race 1.

A wide draw could have contributed to her undoing last time over this distance when only fifth.

Her third-place finish in her previous start was given a boost last week when second-placed finisher Costa Da Sol won nicely.

Delpech and Snaith have been lethal when teaming up recently.

Banker bets are what punters are really looking for and perhaps both Enlightenment in Race 4 and Enticer in Race 5 can be relied on.

Duncan Howells-trained Enlightenment has a wide draw to overcome but has been runner-up in her last two starts and that form looks a bit better than that of her rivals.

Roy’s Monkey does look her main danger but tends not to finish off her races.

Gavin van Zyl-trained Judpot filly Enticer steps up in trip to 1950m in a Maiden Plate. Cheekpieces have been reached for and today could be the day to shed her maiden tag.

This filly is well drawn and could get the run of the race with jockey Warren Kennedy in the saddle.
