The Joey Ramsden-trained Al Dangeur looked to be going nowhere in his racing career until blinkers were reached for two runs back and the Captain Al gelding showed what he is capable of.
A third place finish behind Percival was the result of his first appearance with blinkers and in his next start Al Dangeur drew away nicely for a fine maiden win.
Pole position could give jockey Bernard Fayd’Herbe the run of the race with Al Dangeur and the step up to 1400m could also be to their liking in Race 7, a MR 70 Handicap over 1400m at Kenilworth today.
The Andre Nel stable is in good form and I Am The Law can be a danger if returning fit from a short break.
Shepherds Purse and Valerio are two others who can run well.
Trainer Justin Snaith continues his very good form in the Juvenile races and Race 1 could go the way of that yard.
They run the Australian-bred Soweto Moon a colt by Zoffany.
Of those who have raced before in this race Moulina ran well enough on debut but does not set a very high standard.
Ramsden does not run too many juveniles so obviously Dancer must be showing him something back home and could be respected.
A small field of modest fillies go to post in Race 2 and perhaps Sails Set and Boomtown Belter could prove best.
Sails Set has battled to finish off her races so the drop to this 1000m could help get her home in front.
Boomtown Belter has run her best races over this course and distance so should contest the finish.
Leisure Trip was doing her best work late on her debut and will be a short price to win Race 4, a Maiden Plate over 1200m but the field is mostly unexposed types and there are a few who can make vast improvement such as Abound West and Golden Pass.
Others like Queen At War, Tide Is Turning and Meritocracy can all earn minor money.
Another competitive race is the fifth, a MR 85 Handicap over 2000m but A Time To Kill and Juddering Angel are taken to prove best.
The consistent filly Playboy Buddy has threatened to win but has yet to deliver but she will prove hard to oppose in Race 6.
