Back Drier and end up Wealthy
Second spot went to Dark Moon Rising who was flattered by the 0.75-length distance behind the winner.
The horse may have been called Wealthy but his win in the Listed Michael Roberts Handicap over 1750m at Scottsville yesterday left most punters much poorer.
Going off at 22-1, the Dennis Drier-trained six-year-old gelding flew up on the outside of the field under Sean Veale to win easing up with 6-10 Pietro Mascagni only managing to finish fifth.
Second spot went to Dark Moon Rising who was flattered by the 0.75-length distance behind the winner.
Affranchi ran third with Amor Ardiente in fourth.
Hero Quest set the pace from Aff ranchi with Techno Captain in third and Pietro Mascagni lying fourth but when the field came to the 400m mark the favourite was under a ride and not making much impression on the leaders.
However, once Veale made his move on the outside he swept into the lead and put the race to bed.
The Quartet paid R13,298. It was a disappointing performance from Pietro Mascagni but in the end he finished just 3.15 lengths behind the winner.
