Art Deco looks progressive

It took Art Deco just the three starts to break out of the maiden ranks and she did it in style.

So this Dennis Drier-trained filly could be hard to beat in Race 4, a FM 70 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1600m on the Greyville Polytrack tonight.

The Dynasty filly may have needed her debut when fourth to Triple O Seven over Clairwood 1000m and improved next time out when only finding the decent Eloquence and subsequent winner half a length too good for at Scottsville over 1200m.

Put on the Polytrack and stepping up to 1600m seemed to bring out the very best seen so far from Art Deco. The three-year-old filly made short work of Black Oleander and 10 others to win by 4.25 lengths.

Jockey Sean Cormack is chasing a South African Jockeys Championship title and will be aboard Art Deco and has a fair draw in stall No 4.

There are some hard knocking types in opposition in the form of Danish Zealot, Nanojet and Artistically Done, who have to be respected.

Danish Zealot has won four of her last six starts but the handicapper may now have caught up with her and she is 4.5kg worse off with Nanojet for a length beating so she may struggle to win this.

Nanojet has proved unreliable but on her day she can run.

Artistically Done is a course and distance winner who always gives of her best.
