The contingent of South African golfers plying their trade on the PGA Tour were led by Ernie Els this weekend with the "Big Easy" claiming a share of fifth place at The Barclays.

A final round of 66 meant that Els finished at 11-under-par for the tournament and the result in the first round of FedEx Cup play-offs means that the 44-year-old shot up the overall standings.
Having started the week in 91st, Els moved up to 39th, one position behind compatriot Tim Clark, who withdrew during the second round at The Barclays, and several spots ahead of Charl Schwartzel who moved to 53rd after a share of 30th place on the weekend.
Retief Goosen moved into the top 100 after a share of 66th while Louis Oosthuizen dropped out of the play-offs – only the top 100 advance to this week’s Deutsche Bank Championship – as he failed to improve on his 124th position after missing the cut.
Rory Sabbatini meanwhile dropped out of the play-offs moving to 108th after missing the weekend rounds.
