The Oranje’s goals came from Seve van Ass, Valentin Verga, Jeroen Hertzberger, Robbert Kemperman (two), Biller Bakker and Sander Baart while SA netted a penalty corner from Justin Reid-Ross.
Van Ass opened the scoring in the fourth minute when he breached the goalline from close range.
Valentin Verga made inroads through the right channel before nailing his shot past goalkeeper Rassie Pieterse for The Oranje to go 2-0 up in the 11th minute.
The first penalty corner came in the 12th minute and Jeroen Hertzberger’s
option to go low paid off as the Dutch went 3-0 up.
Holland made it 4-0 just after the half hour mark through Robbert Kemperman’s faultless strike.
In the 38th minute, Kemperman completed his brace with a stunning shot which rocketed into the goal as the hosts led 5-0.
Three minutes later the Dutch notched up their sixth with Billy Bakker producing a stunning strike to make it 6-0.
On the hour mark, the South Africans managed a consolation goal. Ignatius Malgraff’s close control earned South Africa a penalty corner and Reid-Ross reeled off a rocket drag-flick to get the only goal of the match for South Africa.
Sander Baart restored Holland’s six-goal margin in the 65th when he broke into the strike zone from the left channel and let rip past Pieterse to make it 7-1.
Bottom-placed South Africa play second-placed Argentina in their fifth and final Group B match on Tuesday.
