Rabada gets 6 on debut – Bangladesh out for 160

Proteas debutante Kagiso Rabada has ended his first ever innings in the green-and-gold with unmatched figures of 6-16.

The youngster earlier set the pitch alight with a hat-trick in his second over (only the second ever debutante to achieve such a feat), dismantling the Bangladeshi top order with a fiery opening spell.

Rabada’s end figures  of 6-16 eclipse Fidel Edwards’ debut haul of 6-22 for the West Indies in 2002, while also beating pace-legend Allan Donald’s Protea debut blitz of 5-29 against India in 1991.

As the first half of the opening ODI between the Proteas and Bangladesh has drawn to a close, Rabada’s haul has restricted the hosts to 160 all out, a target SA’s batsmen will hope to soon make short work of.

The match continues.
