Former franchise cricketer banned for pulling gun on teammate
Qaasim Adams has been spared a criminal charge after the teammate in question, Givon Christian, chose to 'happily forgive him'.

Former Titans and Cobras batsman Qaasim Adams will still be playing club cricket despite being banned from playing senior provincial cricket after threatening a teammate with a gun.
According to Club Cricket SA, the 34-year-old was involved in a nasty altercation with one of his Western Province teammate, Givon Christian, during a provincial three-day game against South Western Districts back in November.
Christian reported the incident when they team returned to Cape Town and confirmed that Adams pointed the weapon directly at him.
However, no criminal charges were laid.
“Qaasim has a family and, despite the incident, I don’t want to put him in a position that will negatively affect his family,” Christian told the website.
“If I did press charges, he would serve jail time. I’m happy to forgive him and move on.”
The Western Province Cricket Association only imposed the suspension on Friday following substantial negotiations between the relevant parties, which included the South African Cricketers Association.
Adams will be banned for 12 playing days, a sanction whittled down from a season-long suspension.
He will be turning out for United Cricket Club though.
