Cricket South Africa confirmed on Saturday that the India Tour to South Africa will continue as originally scheduled.
There will however be a few adjustment made to the logistical arrangements, such as the arrival time of the India team.
India will now arrive in South Africa a week later than originally scheduled, to allow for effective logistical planning, according to a statement by CSA.
The tour will take place inside a bio-secure environment.
India will play three Tests and three One Day Internationals against the Proteas. However, the four scheduled T20 matches will be rescheduled in the new year, and played at a later time.
The first Test will now start on Boxing Day (December 26) and be played at SuperSport Park in Centurion, while the Wanderers will now host the New Years Test, from January 3.
Newlands in Cape Town unfortunately again misses out on their traditional New Years Test, but they will stage the third and final Test from January 11/12.
The ODI series is scheduled for the Cape thereafter.
CSA will confirm all the venues in the next 48 hours.
The tour was in the balance this week following the announcement of a new strain of Covid-19.
“I would like to thank both the leadership of Cricket South Africa, as well as the leadership of the BCCI for working so tirelessly to make this tour a reality. Even under the most uncertain times, the Boards kept the light of hope alive and kept us anticipating that this tour will indeed take place,” said Pholetsi Moseki, Acting Chief Executive Officer at Cricket South Africa .
“For us as CSA it is always a meeting of old friends when the Proteas take on India, but we will still present the fans with a compelling proposition and a great spectacle to watch. I would like to take this opportunity to also thank our commercial partners and fans, as we promise them a great game of cricket ahead.”
