The Proteas will be without captain Temba Bavuma for their Cricket World Cup match against England in Mumbai on Saturday.
Bavuma had been sidelined by illness, according to Cricket South Africa, and was not available for the match (starting at 10.30am SA time).
In his absence, the SA team would be led by Aiden Markram, while Reeza Hendricks would replace the regular skipper at the top of the order in the only change to the side.
South Africa, who lost the toss and were sent in to bat by England captain Jos Buttler, were looking to get their campaign back on track after a shock defeat to the Netherlands earlier in the week.
