Car mayhem at Mahem

The second round of this year's Chipile Motors International series, with six top British oval track drivers taking on 12 South Africans in two-litre saloon cars, will take place at the Mahem Raceway this Saturday evening.

Judging by last Saturday’s opening round, car wars will be the name of the game.

All of last Saturday’s races were marked by bumping, barging and crashing. So much so that the Mahem mechanics have worked around the clock this week.

The international programme apart, Mahem will offer racing for Rotary powered Midgets, V8 Sprint Cars, Open class saloon cars and Ninja Midget Karts.

The venue gates will be open from noon, with practice sessions for all the classes during the afternoon. Racing proper will commence at 6pm.

Admission will cost R50 per adult and R30 for kids between the ages of six and 12 years.

To find out more, call the circuit at 012 372 3586, or Lani on 074-079-9440.
