Twitter drama as former Protea accuses WP hooker and co of theft

Herschelle Gibbs shows little discretion as he points fingers at Scarra Ntubeni and his friends for allegedly stealing a phone charger.

A war of words has erupted over former Proteas batsman Herschelle Gibbs and Western Province hooker Scarra Ntubeni over the alleged theft of a cellphone charger.

A furious Gibbs tweeted last Sunday that he was “courteous enough” to invite Ntubeni and three of his friends over to his house in Camps Bay last weekend to hang out.

When they left, he was missing a charger.

Gibbs hardly batted an eyelid in pointing the finger at one the 26-year-old Ntubeni’s friends.

Despite stating in a follow-up tweet that he’d “leave the issue here”, Gibbs has subsequently sent threatening messages to Ntubeni via Whatsapp.

According to Netwerk24, one even said that a case will be opened at the police.

“U better tell them to f**ng return it or there’s going to be s**t. Tell them to f**ng man up .. not f**ng cowards. I’ll just take the footage to the police and they will come fetch him … simple,” read one of the messages.

Ntubeni, who is currently on the sidelines with another long-term injury, protested him and his friends’ innocence.

“My friends are honest people. I grew up with them. None of us would ever do something like this (theft),” he said.

“If I have a problem with someone, I’ll speak to him personally. I won’t share it on Twitter.”

Union Sports Group, the agency representing Ntubeni, also confirmed to Netwerk24 that they’ll take legal action for defamation.
