Zulu Comedy ushers in spring

The 99% Zulu Comedy starts at 20:00, and tickets are available from Computicket

WITH the arrival of spring comes the 99% Zulu Comedy show that will once again be blooming at Gold Reef City with a brand-new line-up of talented and budding comedians. This comedy extravaganza, taking place on Friday, September 30 at Gold Reef City’s The Lyric, will feature headline acts Siyanda Maphumulo, Felix Hlophe, Sengsay, Tshepo Sethosa, Qatha Khuzwayo and will be supported by Zimbabwe’s very own professional ventriloquist, Aljoy. The show will be underlined by two ladies, Lihle Lindzy Msimang and Nina Hastie, who will appear on the 99% Zulu Comedy stage for the first time.

Lihle, winner of the 2011 Nando’s Comedy Showdown, is a young female comedian and actress. She has featured in various prestigious stand-up comedy events and DVDs both locally and internationally. Attractive, vibrant and energetic, Lihle is a guaranteed laugh out loud and a fine talent in the growing industry of South African stand-up comedy. She has a unique and clean approach, which has seen her become a guest feature in Parable Magazine’s “Lord, Make Me Laugh”.

Our very own Siyanda Maphumulo will be joining the crew again, and will be offering audiences his touch of ground-breaking and intellectual comedy. Performing in both English and Zulu, his unique style has earned him prominence on the South African stand-up comedy scene.

“Gold Reef City is proud to be hosting this collective of local, talented comedians,” says Gareth Kaschula, marketing manager of Gold Reef City. “The Lyric continually aims to establish itself as a home for top acts such as these, and we pride ourselves on providing the best platform on which to display both local as well as international talent.”

The 99% Zulu Comedy starts at 20:00, and tickets are available from Computicket, ranging from R180 to R200 per person.
