Members from the Community Service Centre arrest a business robbery suspect

Booysens SAPS management appreciates the arrest.

A suspect was taken to Booysens SAPS and an investigation is ongoing for a case of business robbery.

Communication officer Captain Lorraine van Emmerik said the management would like to thank Sergeant Sello Mathekgo, Sergeant Oscar Rihlampfu and Sergeant Calvin Manthada, who are members of the Community Service Centre, for the arrest.

On September 11 at 10:15, a security guard at business premises in Turffontein was approached by two unknown males. They told the security guard that they were there to collect sand.

The security guard did not believe them and went to the guard’s house to confirm the matter. One of the men then pointed a firearm at the security guard. They then forced him into the guard room.

Van Emmerik said a reaction officer was alerted to the alarm and went to check.

“He noticed a bakkie leaving the premises and gave chase. He lost the bakkie and then went back to the premises. On the way, he came across the above-mentioned members and explained the situation.

“The members told him that they will go with him to the premises. When entering the premises there was a bakkie leaving which nearly bumped them. The security guard indicated that the vehicle was part of the robbery and the members gave chase. They were able to pull the bakkie over and arrested the suspect, who was the driver,” she said.
