Task team nabs armed robbery suspect

Mokhachane states that upon driving to Sebokeng SAPS where police intended to park the suspect’s vehicle so he could be taken to hospital to draw blood, they were met by victims who said that they had just been robbed.

SEBOKENG. – Sedibeng District Commissioner Major General Nkhensani Lemba has lauded the Essential Infrastructure Task Team. This is after the team captured a suspect in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane reports that the team made the arrest just after midnight on October 14 while carrying out patrol duties in Sebokeng.

“The team stopped a vehicle and upon speaking to the driver, they could smell alcohol. The police searched the vehicle and found three cellphones that the driver alleged to be his. During the search, a firearm was also found in his possession.”

The victims described the car that robbed them which fitted the vehicle of the suspect. They further identified the suspect as the person who robbed them.

Mokhachane states that the suspect was arrested and charged with drinking and driving, possession of suspected stolen property, armed robbery, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Lemba applauded the members for their vigilance and bravery. Lemba stated that the Sedibeng District is in safe hands because of the team’s commitment.
