Hundreds of rounds of ammunition discovered in Sebokeng

Police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said the CPU proceeded to the house and met an occupant reluctant to grant them access to the premises.

SEBOKENG. – An intelligence-driven operation has led to the discovery of over 400 rounds of ammunition and three unlicensed firearms at a house in the area.

The Sebokeng Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) acted swiftly after receiving a tip-off from concerned community members who alleged that the occupants of a certain house were selling drugs.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said the CPU proceeded to the house and met an occupant reluctant to grant them access to the premises.

“He demanded a search warrant and the police informed him about the ‘no-knock clause’. He then granted the police permission to enter the premises.”
Mokhachane says upon searching the premises, police found three firearms and more than 400 rounds of ammunition.

Mokhachane confirms that the suspect was arrested and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The acting station commander, Colonel Stofina Mofokeng, has thanked community members for coming forward and giving police information about firearms that are in the wrong hands.

“Unlicensed firearms and ammunition are the driving force behind serious crimes such as murder, hijacking, house robbery, business robbery, and armed robbery.

“It’s a collective effort and the collaboration between the police and the community that led to the recovery of these firearms and the arrest of the suspect. We urge the community to continue working with the police in the fight against crime.”
