James and Ethel Gray Park Foundation chairperson, Sunil Geness confirmed law enforcement agencies were investigating the matter.

James and Ethel Gray Park Foundation on October 14 confirmed that the body found near the Melrose Street Bridge was not within the James and Ethel Gray Park vicinity.

Chairperson Sunil Geness said, “We want to clarify that this incident did not occur within James and Ethel Gray Park, and we appreciate the inquiries we’ve received regarding the situation. Our team has been in touch with our security personnel, dedicated volunteers, and law enforcement agencies to gather accurate information, and we want to assure you that they are actively investigating this matter.”

Geness added the loss of any life was heartbreaking, and their thoughts went out to the family and friends affected by the tragedy.

“We urge everyone to remain vigilant, particularly during the evening hours in and around our public spaces. If you notice anything unusual or suspicious, please do not hesitate to report it to the Community Action Patrol (CAP) or the South African Police Service.”

The publication reached out to the Norwood police to ascertain if they knew anything about the matter and was yet to receive a response.
