Schools can win big at the SPAR Women’s Challenge

Laptops, printers and school images are up for grabs for schools at the SPAR Women's Challenge.

Great prizes are available for schools once again at the SPAR Women’s Challenge.

The sixth event in this year’s SPAR Grand Prix will be held at Marks Park Sports Club, Emmarentia, on 6 October. There is a 10km run and 5km fun run.

Proceeds from the run are given to Reach for Recovery, a breast cancer support group.

The Drop Off a Pair and Show You Care campaign also sees hundreds of running shoes being given to children in need each year.

Mustek Electronics has provided valuable prizes over the years to schools whose learners participate in the event.

This year, the three schools with the most participating learners will all receive a Mecer laptop with Windows 7 and a school image.

The school with the most entries will also receive a flatbed Brother colour printer, with fax, scan and copy features. The school with the second most entries will receive a Brother mono laser printer, with fax, scan and copy features.

This competition is open to primary and high schools.

The entries must all be submitted together and the entries must be handed in by 25 September. Only pre-entries are eligible for the prizes and only entries of 20+ will be considered.

Learners have to enter and finish the race. And remember, this is not about the first one past the post – it is about as many girls as possible taking part in the race.

The SPAR Women’s Challenge is a great day out – there will be live entertainment at the finish, plenty of food stalls where you can grab something to eat and there are prizes galore.

But even better, it’s a chance to spend time with your friends and schoolmates at a scenic run.

And if you are from a co-ed school, the boys need not feel left out. They can become your cheerleaders and encourage you on the road, or they could even don a tutu or a skirt of some kind and take part in the race.

Entry forms are available online at https://www.sparjoburgrace.co.za or at all SPAR, SUPERSPAR and KWIKSPAR stores.
