Water leak outside Emfuleni finally fixed

While the repair has brought relief to the residents of Honeydew Ridge, the incident underscores the need for better infrastructure management with the open hole now becoming their new greatest concern.

After months of frustration and repeated complaints from residents, the persistent water leak outside Emfuleni Complex in Honeydew Ridge has finally been repaired.

The leak, which has resulted in thousands of litres of water flowing unchecked every day, was finally repaired on Monday afternoon, October 7.

A crew from Johannesburg Water (JW) was dispatched to the site, resolving the issue that had plagued the community for months and had left water wastage, infrastructure damage and health concerns in the community.

The Roodepoort Northsider found the JW maintenance team replacing the old pipe. Although the water was drained out of the hole and the new pipe was installed, the hole is still open.

The delay in addressing the problem has raised concerns about the efficiency of local authorities in handling infrastructure issues. Residents have called for quicker response times in the future and more proactive monitoring of water systems to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
