Lifalethu wins tournament

Govan Mbeki Municipality tournament to empowers underprivileged children.

eMBALENHLE – Lifalethu, Mbalenhle and Van Stadensdam primary schools went head to head at the Sasol Club during the annual U/13 Soccer Tournament on Saturday, 21 June.

It was hosted by the Govan Mbeki Municipality in partnership with Elite Performance Academy, the Mpumalanga Department of Culture, Sports and Recreation and Old Mutual to empower underprivileged children.

Lifalethu was the winner and received a soccer kit, a ball, a floating trophy, bibs, cones and gold medals.

Mbalenhle was second and received a soccer ball, a trophy and silver medals.

Van Stadensdam was third and received a soccer ball, a trophy and bronze medals.

Tebogo Khanye and Siboniso Skhosana from Lifalethu received a soccer ball for their outstanding performance.

The municipality has been hosting the tournament for the past two years for local clubs taking part.

The organisers decided to host it with schools this year to promote soccer and to also provide pupils the opportunity to play against other schools in the area.
