Criminals almost burn down ANC office

The neighbours of the office notified them of the latest development and the ANC visited the scene and the police were called.

The ANC constituency office was almost burnt down last Monday morning.

The Standerton Advertiser reported the office was vandalised last week and the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and the police are investigating after the office and the posters were spaypainted.

Mr Nicholas Selepe, local elections co-coordinator, responded by saying that the incident is related to the upcoming elections, but could not rule out the possibility that it was done by a resident who had too much to drink.

The neighbours of the office notified them of the latest development and the ANC visited the scene and the police were called.

The Standerton Police opened a case of malicious damage to property.

The ANC also lodged a complaint with the IEC.

The police asked the parties to be tolerant towards the rights of one another to campaign.

“This is against the law and may lead to more problems before the elections,” Lt Fanie Nhlabathi, communications officer of Standerton Police, said.
