Local golfer Willie Opperman was on top of his game as he managed to outplay his opponents during a golf challenge played at Polokwane Golf Club on Saturday.
Opperman finished first in the men’s A-division with 70 points, followed by Thabo Shingange with 70 points on a count and Safraaz Suliman with 72 points.
In the men’s B-division, Jakes Jacobs took the lead with 70 points while Brandon MacDonald finished second with 71 points and Aadil Khan third on 72. Peter Ascenco made his opponents eat dust in the men’s C-division finishing on 70 points, followed by Kobus Geeringh with 73 and Charles Mara with 74 points.
The ladies silver category was won by Belinda Schutte with 64 points, followed by Desiree Earle, second with 74 points. Victory in the ladies bronze division went to Cathy Kamstra who finished on 77 with Naomi Molepo second on 78.
Andries du Plessis was rewarded for playing nearest to pin eight while Shingange claimed prizes for playing nearest to pin 11 and playing the longest drive on hole 12. The jackpot lucky draw made by Shaun Mouton at holes five, eight, nine and 16 stood at 1 310 units with
1 048 units payable but yielded no winner.
