POLOKWANE – Limpopo police management has promised to increase police visibility in the build-up to a safe festive season.
Speaking at the imbizo held at Mankweng on October 18, provincial police commissioner Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe said although this would help with preventing criminal activities during the December holiday, the community should remain the eyes and ears for Community Policing Forums.
The event, held in collaboration with the Capricorn District Municipality was supported by community stakeholders including ward councillors and traditional leaders who led engagements between residents and law enforcement officers.
The community engagement session, which was held at Paledi Mall was preceded by a visit to Molamo Secondary School where police engaged the learners on the effects of bullying, alcohol and drug abuse, theft, possession of dangerous weapons, and gender-based violence.
“To secure your future, focus on school and forget about impressing friends,” said Hadebe.
In her address, Hadebe said it is her responsibility to ensure that the service’s members are equipped and render an effective service delivery to the community and that they prioritse the safety of locals.
To achieve this, she warned motorists and community members to be vigilant, especially during the festive season as most roads will be congested as a result of visitors and tourists.
