Acclaimed South African singer and entertainer, Gerrie Pretorius brings songs from his latest album, ‘Bring die liefde terug’, to life at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World on 27 May.
The album is a treasure trove of surprises, featuring a combination of both English and Afrikaans tracks. The light classical sounds of the piano, guitar and symphony combine with contagious, upbeat rhythms and a touch of country in this spectacular collection of Pretorius’ original songs and renditions of evergreen hits.
Pretorius’ fans can look forward to swaying along to new songs such as ‘Altyd maar net jy’, ‘Beat of my heart’, ‘Sy glo in my’, ‘Fight for love’, ‘Daardie oomblik’ and ‘Dan sê ek weer’ as well as his versions of songs like ‘Room full of roses’ by Mickey Gilley and Jim Reeves, ‘Home isn’t home anymore’ by Alan Garrity, ‘Vier woorde’ by Bles Bridges.
“We are absolutely delighted to confirm that Gerrie Pretorius will be performing live on our stage later this month. It promises to be a memorable show, with songs for everyone and all seasons,” says Meropa’s Public Relations and Promotions Manager, Raksha Gunpath.
Pretorius is a multi-platinum selling artist who has entrenched his name in the local music industry since bursting onto the scene seven years ago.
He made his mark with hits like ‘Annemarie’, ‘Sewe sondes’, as well as the acclaimed Swing album that earned him various awards.
His album, ‘Gerrie Pretorius: Ek sing vir jou Bles’, reached gold status even before it was up for sale or available in record stores. The DVD reached even greater success, platinum status on pre-sales only. Pretorius sings with warmth in his voice and can easily cross over from ballads and pop to more sophisticated jazz.
His show will take place in Meropa’s ample Conference Centre at 20:00. Tickets cost R100 per person and are available at Computicket.
