Family of murdered teacher satisfied with hefty sentence

“My sister loved people dearly; she had a sense of humour and wherever she went, she left people in stitches. She was a peace-lover and a good person whom we still miss every day.”
This is how Ms Thandiwe Peach Mpolweni described her younger sister, Nomathemba Conny Peach whose killer was recently sentenced to two life sentences by the Phalaborwa high court.
The Peach family welcomed the sentence and believe justice was served.
“We are satisfied with the sentence and how the judge handled the case,” she said.
Thandiwe also said the family appreciated the unwavering support and prayers from relatives, neighbours, the community and the church during their most difficult time.
Nomathemba left behind three children, a 26-year-old son, a 17-year-old boy and an 11-year-old daughter. According to Thandiwe, they are all currently in the care of their grandmother. Their father has also been supporting them.
As reported in last week’s Potchefstroom Herald, Nomathemba was brutally murdered by the hitchhike killer, Boy John Ngobeni, after he offered her a lift from Randfontein.
