Wits secured a 3-0 away win on Saturday in the Clever Boys’ opening Caf Confederations Cup match. Dillon Sheppard, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Markus Lecki scored the goals for the Students.
Hunt was pleased with his team’s dominance over the home side, but was quick to point out that Stars were wasteful in front of goal in the opening minutes.
“We had a total domination of this match and should have won by a wider scoreline, though we played in difficult conditions with the hot weather and artificial pitch which was not in our favour. Our opponent also had good chances to score in the opening minutes and that could have changed the complexion of the match,” Hunt told the Caf website.
Clever Boys captain Dillon Sheppard was happy with the end result considering the difficult weather conditions and unfamiliar playing surface.
“We played in difficult conditions with the hot weather and artificial pitch which was against us. Nonetheless, we achieved a good result which puts us in a good stead for the return match at home.”
