Pirates explain Erasmus’ departure

Orlando Pirates has released a press statement concerning their Striker Kermit Erasmus signing for Stade Rennais FC in Ligue 1 in France.

Erasmus’ move to the French outfit was confirmed on Thursday by Stade Rennais FC on their official website, Pirates has since released a media statement on their website explaining the strikers move to France.

“In a sequence of events that started with a request by Kermit Erasmus for compassionate leave to accompany his Dutch wife to Holland to attend to a family matter, Orlando Pirates is now formally announcing that Kermit has joined Stade Rennais FC in Ligue 1 in France.

“Whereas the Orlando Pirates management were not keen on losing Kermit, due consideration was taken to the fact that only six months remained in his contract with the club.

“A counter balance between the player’s interest, especially his state of mind, and the club’s interests were weighed. It was decided that Kermit be afforded an opportunity to fly both the Orlando Pirates and South African flags in a top world league.

“We wish him the best in all his future endeavours.”
