Nigerian champions Enyimba said on Monday they were robbed at gunpoint on their way to a pre-season tournament in the northern town of Kaduna.

Players and officials were robbed of valuables such as phones and cash at Okene, north-central Nigeria, on Monday but no-one was hurt during the incident, Enyimba announced on their official Twitter account.

Last year, Kano Pillars were attacked by robbers on their way to a league game in the eastern part of Nigeria.

Five players, including star striker Gambo Mohammed, were injured after being shot.

Two-time African champions Enyimba will feature in a pre-season tournament in Kaduna to prepare for a CAF Champions League preliminary round fixture next month.

Warri Wolves, Nasarawa United and cup winners Akwa United are the other teams who will feature in the competition, which starts on Wednesday.
