Former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates player Helman mkhalele believes Bidvest Wits midfielder Phumlani Ntshangase can fit very well in the Pirates set-up with the team lacking someone who stays in the centre.

“Ntshangase would provide a very good cover for the central defence of which Pirates is lacking. Issa has been overstretched. He plays more forward and then he has to track-back to help his defence,” Mkhalele told Goal.com.

“If we have a player that goes forward seldom, a player who will just remain mostly in terms of helping the central defenders, I think it will play a huge role if they acquire such a player in Ntshangase.”

Currently, the Buccaneers have Issa Sarr, Lehlohonolo Masalesa, Thandani Ntshumayelo with the trio able to do the job at hand. But Mkhalele insists the acquisition of Ntshangase would create a tough competition at the team.

“Ntshangase will cause of a lot of challenges to the current midfielders because they will be asking themselves ‘if they acquire somebody in our position what does that mean?’.
