Bloemfontein Celtic chairman Max Tshabalala is disappointed with Gabadinho Mhango’s decision to sign a pre-contract with Bidvest Wits after verbally agreeing to stay at Celtic.

Wits announced the singing of Mhango on a pre-contract on their website on Monday afternoon.

“We are stunned by Mhango’s pre-contract signing with Wits after having numerous discussions with him and his agent for more than a year. Even this past Friday, whilst preparing for the Kaizer Chiefs game, he adamantly denied rumours about his departure and made a commitment that he will extend his contract with us sign. I deem his conduct to be unprofessional,” said Tshabalala.

Tshabalala admits to knowing of Wits’ desire to sign Mahango. According to the Celtic’s chairman both clubs had agreed to give Mhango time to recover from his injury before resuming talks of a potential transfer.

Mhango was subsequently released by the Bloemfontein outfit to join the Clever Boys after the news was made public.

“Remember, he has just recovered from injury and both parties agreed to allow him to fully recover then restart negotiations and that is exactly what we have done. I was incredibly shocked hearing via the media (SoccerLaduma.mobi) and later receiving the letter from Wits confirming the signing,” concluded Mhango.
