Chiefs continue slide down African rankings

Kaizer Chiefs have moved down one position to number six in the latest African club rankings.

The Absa Premiership break has hit defending Kaizer Chiefs in the latest African club rankings.

Amakhosi last played a league match on November 21 when they drew 1-1 with Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium.

Chiefs, who were earlier ranked fifth in Africa, are now sixth on the log after being toppled by Cameroon’s Cotonsport.

Ironically, Chiefs’ rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates have maintained their 11th and 24th positions respectively despite their inactivity in the league.

Wits have also kept their 26th position.

Bloemfontein Celtic are now out of the top 50 clubs in Africa, after moving down from position 46 to 52 in the latest rankings.
