Up for grabs: The Telkom Knockout trophy

The Premier Soccer League confirmed yesterday that the Telkom Knockout final will be held on December 16, Reconciliation Day, to accommodate the South African Under-23 side’s attempt to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro.

“The PSL took a decision to rally behind the U23’s in their bid to qualify for Rio Olympics  and, as part of our agreement with SAFA, we suspended both league and cup competition fixtures during this period. This also necessitated a decision on our side to move the TKO final to 16 December 2015. We would like to thank our sponsors and broadcast partners for their understanding as we get behind our U23 boys,” PSL CEO Brand De Villiers said.
