Ajax Cape Town defender Nazeer Allie is on the verge of making a comeback from injury.

The Cape side has been plagued by injuries in the recent weeks, hampering the successful progression of the team’s league campaign.

Allie, who was due to move to Wits during the June transfer window, failed his medical at the club and has been out of action for a few weeks. But he is due to make his return sooner than expected.

The club also confirmed the return of Franklin Cale, Thulani Hlatshwayo and goalkeeper Brandon Petersen, who resumed training this week.

“The injury list at Ikamva was shortened by a few names early this morning after the medical team announced that Brandon Petersen will be able to resume training at the weekend,” said the club’s website.

“Petersen was stretchered off during Ajax Cape Town’s recent fixture against Polokwane City, the Ajax keeper fell awkwardly after making a save in the second half of the game.”

The Urban Warriors are rooted at the foot of the log with only two points after five league appearances.

There is no doubt that the long list of injuries is a contributing factor to their snail-pace performances.
