Polokwane City’s fitness trainer Eduardo Schoeler is set to continue as acting coach … at least for now.

City have been without a coach since Duncan Lechesa’s departure last week after four league games without a victory. Lechesa cited personal reasons for his resignation although conflicting reports suggest that he was given the boot.

Schoeler supervised City in the team’s 1-0 defeat by Orlando Pirates and their 2-0 victory over Ajax Cape Town.

Tebogo Kgatla, the club’s admin manager, said it was up to the management to decide whether he would stay put or not, but for now, no one else was being looked at for the top job.

“Schoeler is the acting coach,” said Kgatla, “and I don’t believe anyone else is being assessed for the job.

“We have been hearing from the media that the likes of Ian Palmer and Mark Harrison are in contact with the club for the job, but that is not true.”

Kgatla also confirmed that Schoeler would be on the bench in their next encounter when they face Kaizer Chiefs in the 2013 Telkom Knockout Cup.

Chiefs missed out on a spot in the final of the MTN8 after losing 2-1 on aggregate to Orlando Pirates on Tuesday, and there is no doubt that Chiefs will want to redeem themselves in the Telkom Knockout competition.

“Yes, he will be overseeing that game as well,” added Kgatla. “We have had a difficult start to the season and we hope that things will change for the better starting with the Telkom Knockout.”
