This is according to his agent Jazzman Mahlakgane, as the former Kaizer Chiefs defender Mashamaite continues searching for a club days before the start of the new Absa Premiership season.
The lanky defender went on a ten-day trial at Major League Soccer side New York City FC but an imminent deal fell through in the last minute due to MLS regulations.
“There is nothing at the moment,” Mahlakgane told Phaaakathi, “we will see if anything happens soon but for now there is no update.”
Mamelodi Sundowns are understood to be after Mashamaite’s signature although the defender has rejected an offer from the Brazillians before.
Mashamaite’s agent earlier told Phakaaathi that the central defender is still looking for an overseas move.
“Of course that is his (Mashamaite’s) ambition,” Mahlakgane said at the time. “And I will try to do as much as I can.”
It was earlier thought that Cypriot side, Famagusta Anorthosis, were keen on the former Kaizer Chiefs defender but nothing has materialised.
The 30-year-old was released by Chiefs at the end of the 2014/15 season after contract talks broke down due to alleged steep financial demands.
