Mandla Masanago felt humiliated by Kaizer Chiefs in their contract negotiations. A source close to Masango say the player was told he was ”nothing without Chiefs.”

It is this which saw Masango seek to leave the club. “In the meeting, Masango was told he is nothing without Chiefs and that it was Chiefs who made him what he is today and Mandla did not like that,” a source said.

Masango has been reported to have wanted a 100 percent salary increase from Amakhosi . The Bafana Bafana player is said to be on R100 000 a month at Naturena and to have wanted R200 000 but the source, an influential figure at Chiefs, said Masango did not make unreasonable demands.

“Look, Mandla told them he was now a player with more value having played at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations and he thought he needed that to be acknowledged by the club by looking after him well in his salary,” added the source.

Masango was rumoured to be heading to Mpumalanga Black Aces but AmaZayoni have denied being interested in the player. Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United are said to be keen on the player but would have to meet his salary demands.
