Eric Tinkler has called on Orlando Pirates to put on the same performance they did when they stunned Zamalek 4-1 two years ago, when they start their Caf Confederation Cup campaign against Uganda Revenue Authority on Saturday afternoon.

Bucs face the Ugandans at Orlando Stadium in the first leg of the Confederation Cup’s first round (5pm).

Tinkler admits his players have been looking forward to playing in the competition, especially those who didn’t feature in the club’s run to the final of the Champions League in 2013. They have unfinished business in that tournament, and look to use the Confederation Cup as a springboard for next year.

“Our objective is to gain experience, especially the players who have never played at this level,” Tinkler said.

“So that if we achieve our objectives at the end of the season we go to the Champions League with that experience.

“We were disappointed to have lost in the final to Al-Ahly. It was a phenomenal experience, especially our trip to TP Mazembe. I don’t think there is a person involved in the club who will ever forget that experience.”
