The former Kaizer Chiefs player has been clubless since Free State Stars decided against handing him a deal at the end of last season.
He started trials at Swallows in September while Zeca Marques was still coach.
Since Marques left, it is not clear if current interim coach Fani Madida will sign him.
But the fact that his is still training with the Dube Birds means the team is still mulling over the possibility of bringing him on board.
In central midfield, Swallows depend on Lefa Tsutsulupa, Lucky Baloyi, Lantshene Phalane and Lerato Chabangu.
Tsutsulupa is ageing and is injury prone, while Baloyi and Phalane are still getting into the groove of things and while Chabanagu is off form.
The arrival of Yende may see them get some cover in the middle of the park. In the end it is club boss Leon Prins who will make the call on whether they sign Yende or not.
