Ayanda Patosi could yet get a call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad next week, if Sibusiso Vilakazi pulls out with a suspected toe injury.

Vilakazi missed Wits’ Absa Premiership loss to Chippa United in midweek, and the in-form Patosi may be the best option for Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba, if the ‘General’ is ruled out of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan in Durban on November 15 and Nigeria in Uyo on November 19.

Patosi was called up by Mashaba for the September qualifiers against Sudan and Nigeria, but was dropped from the squad after missing his flight. That was followed by troubles at his Belgian club FC Lokeren, where he was blasted by club coach Peter Maes for his attitude.

Patosi, however, has found his feet again in Belgium, and has returned to the Lokeren starting line-up of late. The young attacking midfielder scored twice in a 5-2 Jupiler League win over Sporting Charleroi at the end of October, and again on Thursday night in a Europe League game at home to Trabzonspor.

Vilakazi is expected to report to the Bafana camp on Sunday, where his injury will be assessed
