The Soweto-based outfit was without a head coach following the resignation of Zeca Marques on Monday.
Prins revealed that assistant coach Fani Madida would fill Marques’ role in an acting capacity until a permanent appointment had been made.”It is an obvious priority for us to now seek a permanent replacement as coach and various avenues would be examined in this respect,” Prins said.”One of them is to make Fani’s position as head coach permanent and, in this respect, the ball is now in his court as he acts in a caretaker capacity. “He was a great player, goal-scorer and example to the other players when he starred for Kaizer Chiefs and other teams during his playing career and is a very popular figure in the Swallows’ camp. We’ll just have to see how he takes on this extra responsibility.”
Prins said Marques was not forced to resign but the former coach felt he had taken the club as far as he could with the resources he had. “We did not twist Zeca’s arm or force him into making his decision. We still regard him as a competent coach and wish him well. “He clearly believed he had done all within his means to turn round the club’s fortunes and it would be the best for all concerned if he relinquished the coaching role and moved on.”
