Ntsikelelo Nyauza’s fight to get back into the Orlando Pirates team is something that has impressed coach Rulani Mokwena, who has nicknamed the ‘beast’.

Mokoena believes the defender stepped in their previous game and was handed the armband during the club’s goalless draw with Maritzburg United after captain Happy Jele was red carded.

“At the beginning of the season he wasn’t part of the squad, he worked extremely hard to get into the team. His performances in friendly matches and training have allowed him to win his place in the team and only through meritocracy has he been able to sustain his place in the team. I call him the beast, he is a beast, he is colossal, he is strong in the air, wins all his aerial duels and goes one on one even when we were one man down he wasn’t afraid to pick up Jeremy  Brockie, and they substituted Jeremy Brockie. He wasn’t afraid to pick Thabiso Kutumela on his own and he did that last week and in the previous week against Highlands.

“He is unbelievable and has an unbelievable presence in the changing room. He is a leader, a fighter and a winner. Orlando Pirates is lucky to have Nyauza because it is very seldom you find a talented footballer with those sorts of human trades and that’s what he has. No wonder the nickname beast is befitting because that’s what he is, he is a beast, and he is colossal.”

Nyauza will probably lead Bucs team again when they face Kaizer Chiefs in a League encounter at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
