Mathoho’s contract with Chiefs was set to expire at the end of June and Amakhosi have moved swiftly to tie down the defender to a long-term deal.
Tower, as Mathoho is affectionately known by the Chiefs supporters, announced the latest developments around his contract on his Facebook account on Wednesday.
“I can confirm that I have signed a new contract @kaizer chiefs. Three-year deal,” read Mathoho’s post.
Mathoho joined his childhood club Chiefs from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2012.
He has been one of the club’s best performers over the past few seasons and scoring vital goals for Chiefs.
He is currently Chiefs’ joint-top goalscorer with Lebogang Manyama on two goals in four matches for Amakhosi so far this season.
