United chairman Farouk Kadodia confirmed the club’s interest in signing the midfielder, who was considered deadwood at Chiefs.
Buchanan was released by Amakhosi along with four other players last week after they failed to make an impact at the club in the past two seasons.
“We will invite him to come and train with the team,” Kadodia told Isolezwe.
“We want to assess the player and find out why he didn’t get a chance to play.
“Having him here will help us know if he was not given a chance or was he suffering from injury. We want to see if he can adapt to the Team of Choice’s style,” said Kadodia.
